Benjamin Cheung is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, teaching psychology from a socio-cultural lens. He is also a faculty associate in the Asian Canadian and Asian Migration program, teaching about health among Asian diaspora. His research interests variously explore 1) the ways in which people often over-interpret the role of genes, as well as 2) the role of cultural environment in shaping people’s psychology. In addition to his role as Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, he is also the Department’s Indigenous Initiatives Coordinator, working with Indigenous students studying psychology to create an environment that helps create a positive environment for them. His current work includes understanding the post-secondary educational experience of Indigenous students studying psychology, and promoting student well-being.
