Jie Cheng is Associate Professor of Law at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Her teaching and research focus on PRC law and government in the areas of comparative constitutionalism, judicial politics, freedom of information, property law and Hong Kong Basic Law. Between 2006-7, she was seconded to the Hong Kong and Macau Basic Law Commissions of the Chinese National People’s Congress Standing Committee. She has published over 30 articles and essays and several books, including Essence of Constitutionalism: Open Government Under Law (Beijing: CUPL Press, 2002) and State Craft and State Power: An Institutional Analysis of Chinese Constitution (Beijing: China Law Press, 2015). Dr. Cheng is an associate member of the International Academy of Comparative Law.
