In “Between Affective Attachment and Effective Detachment: Seeking Resonances in Hong Kong in Times of Crisis”, HKSI Faculty Associate Dr. Helena Wu (Asian Studies) explores the beginnings and endings of Hong Kong through the narration of birth, death, and areas in between in various discourses, heritage preservation campaigns, social movements, as well as works by the popular group Trial & Error.

“Beginnings/Endings of Hong Kong” is a special issue curated and edited by Kwai-cheung Lo (Hong Kong Baptist University) for Critical Asia Archives. The online collection features an introduction and seven reflective essays, where contributors shared their affective connections with Hong Kong and others by way of objects, events, moments, and sentiments.
