Sonia graduated from the UBC Media Studies program in 2022 and is now an alumnus associate of HKSI.
Sonia grew up in Hong Kong and Macau. She is interested in different forms of storytelling and enthusiastic about exploring various media platforms. She enjoys creating content that sparks the imagination and echoes her own culture and identity. She believes films are unique mediums that make it possible to explore and engage in discussion on social topics.
“Hong Kong is my land of origin, which shaped me, expanded my horizon, and where all my connections were made. Being part of the HKSI, I am honoured to participate in events and discussions related to Hong Kong and would be able to contribute back to my birthplace. I believe more discussions and conversations are needed in this era of unrest, and everyone’s participation would make a difference.”
Sonia’s recent involvement includes organizing the UBC World Music Lecture series with Dr. Hedy Law at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden and the SFU Re-storying Community: Arts-Based Digital Storytelling for Community Inquiry with Dr. Ching-Chiu Lin.
